Goresbrook Livings is a service offering 24 hour supported living for young people aged 16 – 25 who may display challenging / anti-social / unacceptable behavior, or living independently from overseas, such as, Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). We ensure services are easily accessible by bus, rail and car. Our provisions are well served by local shops and amenities and are within easy access to colleges, leisure facilities, among other community resources. We provide spacious supported and pleasant accommodation
The service was developed from an identified need to provide suitable accommodation for young referrals from the Placing Local Authority. The transition from varying residential settings into supported accommodation can sometimes prove to be a complex one; in line with ‘best fit’, Goresbrook Livings provides comfortable space for young people who may not be able to live independently, but who may benefit from a 24hour supported living plan whilst supporting them towards independence. Our service can be perceived to fill the ‘gap’ between residential and independent living.
In addition, the proprietors were encouraged to establish Goresbrook Livings following extensive involvement in residential homes for children with challenging behavior during the last couple of years. Often young people when moving on from residential care did not ‘fit’ the completely independent model, Local Authorities were very keen to consider available options particularly within the local area. As an organization, we have developed an excellent facility, tailored to a more flexible non-institutional model aimed at resolving the diverse needs of young people.
The Unit has exceptional services for young people in terms of space and local amenities. They have ample living accommodation, including spacious bedrooms, staff rooms / office, large kitchen / dining room, recreation room / living room and private gardens. The exciting part of Goresbrook Livings is that service users at the unit are encouraged to live as independently as they are able but with access to 24hour support. The unit can also develop need based programmes of support for service users working towards goal orientated development.
